A representative from Frontières co-production market, the genre film project market, and Japanese filmmakers discuss international co-production of genre projects.
This year, TGFM is partnering with Frontières, the international co-production market organized by the Fantasia International Film Festival, North America’s leading genre film festival, to present the first-ever Frontières Showcase in Asia.
In this talk, a Frontières organizer and Japanese filmmakers who have participated in the market will discuss how taking part in a project market can shape the development and financing of film projects.
Filmmakers developing genre projects, those looking to explore international co-production opportunities, and anyone interested in participating in project markets are warmly invited to join us.

Deputy Director, Frontières International Co-Production Market, Fantasia International Film Festival

Her acting work is credited under the name Tomomi Kono. Focusing on genre cinema, she develops projects through international co-production and uses international film markets to build financing and production partnerships. She has participated in programs including Visitors Programme Berlinale Co-Production Market, BIFAN Fantastic Film School, and Busan Asian Film School (AFiS). Koji Shiraishi’s RED SPIDER LILIES: THE ASCENSION received Bronze in the Best Asian Short category at the Fantasia 2025 Audience Awards, while the feature project RED SPIDER LILIES was selected for Frontières 2025 Shorts to Features. In 2026, the Japan–Philippines co-production My Missing Half was selected for GLOBAL TRACK – The JAPAN PITCH in Cannes, BIFAN NAFF, and the Frontières Co-Production Market, receiving the Asian Discovery Award and Badclay VFX Innovation Award at NAFF. Furuyama is producing three Japan–Philippines co-productions in 2026, two of which have already completed principal photography. Her Japan–Indonesia co-production project Dame Torment was also selected for the Jakarta Film Week 2026 JFWNET-Pitching Forum, as she continues to expand her co-production partnerships across Asia.

Born in 1979 in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan. President and CEO of ColorBird Inc. Began working in international film sales at TBS Television in 2004, became independent in 2011, and founded ColorBird in 2014. Producing credits include When I Get Home, My Wife Always Pretends to Be Dead and Magical Secret Tour. In 2026, Numb was selected for the Berlin International Film Festival’s Panorama section, while the project in development Shumari was selected for CineMart at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Magai-gami was selected for and pitched at Cannes Frontières, a collaboration between Fantasia and Cannes.
