FAQ

1. Is there any submission fee?

No. There is no fee to apply.

2. May I apply if my project has already been presented in a co-production market?

Yes. Previous presentations at other markets do not disqualify your application.

3. Do you accept only Asian projects?

No. We accept applications from all regions, provided the project incorporates “Asian elements.”

4. What is the definition of “Asian elements”?

The term “Asian elements” encompasses projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:
Personnel: The project team includes Asian directors, producers, cast, or crew members.
Content: The story is set in an Asian country/region, or features characters of Asian descent.
Production: Production or post/pre-production activities take place within an Asian country/region.
IP/Source Material: The project is an adaptation or a remake of an original Asian work (e.g., novels, manga, or films).

5. Does the definition of “Asia” include the Middle East?

Yes. For the purposes of TGFM, the Middle East is included within the definition of Asia.

6. Are documentary films eligible for submission?

No. Documentaries are not eligible for submission. The current edition of TGFM is exclusively for live-action and animated feature films. 

7. Are there any limitations of the total budget?

No. There are no restrictions on the total production budget.

8. Can one company apply for more than one project?

Yes. Multiple submissions from a single company are permitted.

9. We are currently looking for partners and managing this project independently. Is it possible to apply?

Yes. As stated in the Guidelines, please submit your Financing Plan.

10.Is it necessary to prepare all documents, such as contracts, in English for the application?

Yes. At minimum, please provide English translations of contracts (including agreements or deal-memos) that serve as evidence of confirmed financing.

11. May I apply if the film is currently filming or already completed?

 Yes.

12. Can I submit additional materials (e.g., video presentations, animatics, look books, or product samples)?

Yes. Submitting these reference materials is welcome.

13. I cannot provide the contracts for the main cast yet; can I submit a “wish list” instead?

Yes. A wish list is acceptable, and having a casting director attached is highly encouraged.

14. Is it acceptable if the director is a newcomer who has only directed short films that haven’t been in festivals?

Yes, provided that the short film has at least been released or sold. Please submit the director’s CV.

15. The eligibility criteria require a track record in international co-production. We have a co-production in progress that has not been released yet; are we still eligible?

Yes. Please provide the names of your co-producers for that project.

16. What kind of professionals will participate?

Participants include producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers, broadcasters, and representatives from various film funds.
