The animated feature LITTLE AMÉLIE OR THE CHARACTER OF RAIN, a TGFM 2023 alumni project, based on the autobiographical novel Tubular Metaphysics by acclaimed Belgian author Amélie Nothomb, has been shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The film has already garnered international recognition, winning the Audience Award at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. It was also nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.

Directed by Maïlys Vallade and Lian cho-HAN, the film offers a poetic portrayal of Norton’s childhood. Born and raised in Japan, the author’s early life is depicted through a distinctive visual style and sensibility.

The film was released for release in France in June 2025, followed by a theatrical release in Japan on 20 March 2026.
