Tokyo Gap-Financing Market (TGFM), organized as part of the Tokyo International Film Festival Content Market (TIFFCOM), is proud to announce a new partnership with Frontières, the Montreal-based international genre co-production market organized by the Fantasia International Film Festival. This new TGFM initiative aims to strengthen international collaboration between productions and bring forth the best of genre cinema, from horror to sci-fi, fantasy, action, and animation.

The program will feature bold and imaginative projects in advanced financing from international filmmakers, seeking a maximum of 40% gap-financing. Selected participants will present their project in a curated showcase and take part in TGFM’s one-to-one meetings with industry professionals (producers, financiers, distributors, broadcasters/streaming platforms), in addition to daily panels and conferences throughout the three-day event.

Three recent projects by TGFM alumni were celebrated at Cannes this year — Death Has No Master by Jorge Thielen Armand, 9 Temples to Heaven by Sompot Chidgasornpongse, and Titanic Ocean by Konstantina Kotzamani.

Recent Frontières successes include Lamb (Valdimar Jóhannson, 2021), In Flames (Zarrar Khan, 2023), A Prayer for the Dying (Dara Van Dusen, 2026), and the upcoming Hot Spot (Agnieszka Smoczynska), set to premiere at Fantasia’s 30th edition this summer.

Submissions for eligible projects will open on May 21st and close on July 21st, 2026. Applicants can submit their project through the TGFM platform or through the Frontières Market website. For more information about TGFM, please visit the TIFFCOM website.

TGFM will run from October 28–30, 2026, as part of the Tokyo International Film Festival, which will hold its 39th Edition from October 26 to November 4, 2026.
