Three Alumni Projects Now Heading to Cannes✈
WHY TGFM IS BECOMING THE UNAVOIDABLE PROJECT MARKET IN ASIA
Last year, the 22nd edition of TIFFCOM recorded 4,610 participants, up 13% from the previous year with 1,905 international attendees from 46 countries and regions.
With 169 Asian and 128 Japanese exhibitors out of 322, TIFFCOM is clearly positioned as a major Asian market allowing non-Asian to find the right Asian partners in cinema, anime, television and videogames production, distribution and broadcasting. 60% of the 7,767 meetings were dedicated to international co-production.
These figures are confirmed by the survey done among our visitors as 76,4% came to find partners to co-produce and 64,8% came to find and buy content.
A key tool to international co-production is the 3-day Tokyo Gap Financing Market (TGFM) which supports 23 selected feature-length film projects by providing one-to-one meetings (442 in 2025) with industry professionals (producers, financiers, distributors, broadcasters/streaming platforms…) as well as projects’ cash and/or in-kind awards.
In addition to that, specific talks discussions focusing on the financing (funds and grants, projects markets, etc.) are organized every day.
Three projects by alumni of the Tokyo Gap-Financing Market (TGFM) —DEATH HAS NO MASTER by Jorge Thielen Armand,9 Temples to Heaven by Sompot Chidgasornpongse, and Titanic Ocean by Konstantina Kotzamani — have been officially selected for the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. This achievement reflects a broader trend of growing international recognition for TGFM-supported works, with an increasing number of films and animation projects earning acclaim at prestigious film festivals around the world.

TIFFCOM is also hosting the Tokyo IP Market (TIPM) which offers unique opportunities to acquire adaptation or remake rights of Asian contents as well as many seminars tackling all the important Asian industry topics through panels, case studies and roundtables.
There is only one place if you want to co-produce or buy Asian contents: TIFFCOM
TIFFCOM will run from October 28-30, 2026 and is organized together with the Tokyo International Film Festival which will hold its 39th Edition from Oct 26 to Nov 4, 2026.
Please stop by Japan Pavillion (#116) at the Village International in Cannes, TGFM staff will be there during the festival.
